Missouri's Forgotten Civil War Couple: Capt. Thomas & Louisa Volker Macklind

The Warren family will present a historical drama of a lesser-known Civil War couple and their surprising contributions to Missouri. Captain Thomas helped design the railroad and St. Louis' streets & sidewalk system. Louisa was the army’s first female telegraph operator, then later one of the first female doctors in Missouri. After the performance, daughter Abbie will share about Civil War toys, then the St. Clair Historical Museum will show how telegraphs work, and allow you to experiment with them.
