Program Description

Event Details

In Latine literature, authors often tell stories through the perspectives of multiple generations of women, highlighting strong family ties—especially between mothers and daughters. This tradition is frequently expressed through the family saga, as seen in works like Speak to Me of Home by Jeanine Cummins, Flower in the Skull by Kathleen Alcalá, So Far From God by Ana Castillo, and Las Madres by Esmeralda Santiago. This presentation explores how these narratives reveal the enduring importance of family and home. Presented by Dr. Aurelia VonTress, Instructor of English at East Central College–Rolla.
